If someone is a pirate, you're probably never going to buy a GOG game, and by extension you're probably never going to buy the Steam version of it either since it's less effort & don't need to go through an emulator to crack Steam's DRM.ĭRM Free on PC is just not a profitable endevour. Those pirates didn't actually go away, they were just given a decent platform they consider worth spending some money. The PC industry has been through this song and dance before, the platform was practically dying due to rampant piracy and Steam with a combination of its ease of patching (which isn't also a problem for GOG games either due to their installer making it easy) and DRM basically massively hurt piracy by delivering a better product that made people want to spend their money. Being DRM free means pirating the games on there is literally the easiest possible.
